A scientist at Montana State University discovered a fungus in the rainforest that makes Diesel. Boom. That’s it. You feed the fungus, it poops, then you drive your truck with it.
Of course this is still in the early stages, and it will take years to set up a project to see if this is commercially viable and practical, but it’s stil very exciting. Especially if we could feed the fungus with stuff we don’t want anymore, like garbage.

This looks like a very promising technology. Had they actually extracted the diesel and ran a car/vehicle with it?

My understanding is that this is still only in the discovery stage. The biologist found it in the field, and told the press right after he figured out that it was actually making diesel. As far as I know, no production attempts have been made, but they say that the fungus produces straight-up diesel that could go right into your vehicle.
